Notice of Non-discrimination

WSU does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, genetic information, and/or protected veteran status in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.  The following persons have been designated to handle inquiries regarding the non-discrimination policies:

Discrimination

Discrimination on the basis of a protected class is prohibited by WSU Executive Policy 15 (EP 15). Discrimination includes improper conduct toward a particular individual, individuals, or groups on the basis of a protected class that is sufficient severe, persistent, or pervasive that it has the purpose or effect of:

  • Creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment; or
  • Unreasonably interfering with work, academic performance, living environment, personal security, or participation in any WSU activity.

EP 15 includes the following protected classes:

  • Race
  • Sex/gender
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender Identity/Expression
  • Religion
  • Age
  • Color
  • Creed
  • National or ethnic origin
  • Physical, mental, or sensory disability, including disability requiring the use of a trained service animal
  • Marital Status
  • Genetic Information
  • Status as an honorably discharged veteran or member of the military

Examples may include, but are not limited to, sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive:

  • Harassment
  • Denial of educational or employment opportunities
  • Treating individuals differently
  • Name calling, jokes, or other verbal or physical behavior
  • Following a practice that disproportionately impacts one group
